k A written abbreviation for thousand. Therefore, 50k would be 50,000. See also M.
keep me up Trader's jargon meaning "I have trading interest, so continue to update me as your situation develops." Opposite of TURN IT OFF.
kick it out Eliminate a position immediately. Usually refers to a relatively small position. For example, We're still long 2700 ZVZZT? Just kick it out.
kid Industry slang for a more junior trader. Does not necessarily imply youth. For example, That kid is going to need to get his act together if he ever wants to run his own pad.
kill Cancel an order. For example, It looks like ZVZZT just ran a dollar on nothing. Just kill my order.
killed Sustained a substantial loss. For example, Thanks a lot. I'm getting killed in this XYZ trade your analyst recommended.
killing An unusually large trading profit, as in We made a killing on the XYZ trade that Monty's analyst recommended, but don't tell them that.
kiss of death A slang term for a corporate event that causes a decline in the market price of the stock from which it is unlikely to recover.
kiting Industry slang for pushing stocks to unreasonably high levels.
